Why I made Quiz Fight

Most quiz apps die the same death: you see the same questions twice, the magic breaks, you delete the app. The question bank is the product, and hand-written banks are always too small.

Quiz Fight was my bet that this could be solved properly. What if the library was so large — and so well-curated — that a repeat basically never happens? And what if, instead of quizzing alone against a database, you were matched live against a real person, five questions, quickest correct answer wins?

How I built it

The core of Quiz Fight is a content pipeline as much as a game. I built an AI generation and curation system that has produced over 500,000 questions across 185 topics — every question validated for format and answerability before it enters the pool, with difficulty scoring so matches feel fair. Photo modes like What Country? and What Year? turn real photographs into puzzles: read the landscape, the architecture, the cars, the fashion.

The app is React + Vite + Tailwind CSS, shipped as a native iOS app with Capacitor. Firestore does the heavy lifting for real-time play: matchmaking, live 1v1 duels, private rooms, leaderboards and seasons all ride on its realtime listeners. Solo modes cache locally, so the game works offline on a plane.

This stack lets me ship new topics, modes and fixes at web speed while still being a real App Store app — the same codebase update flow I use across all my games.

What’s in the game

Eight ways to play. Live 1v1 Trivia is the flagship: real opponent, five questions, speed matters. What Country? and What Year? are the photo detective modes. Private rooms fit 2–10 players for game night or the office. Streak Run, Daily Challenges and Adventure Mode round it out, with seasons, medals and avatar customization on top.
